Creating a Bucket

OBS users can create buckets. A bucket name is globally unique in the OBS system. A user can create a maximum of 100 buckets.

Bucket names must comply with naming rules. The OBS system strictly checks bucket names in a request, and processes the request only when the bucket name is qualified.

Naming Rules

  • Must start with a digit or a letter.
  • Ranges from 3 to 63 characters.
  • Cannot be an IP address.
  • Cannot end with a hyphen (-) or period (.).
  • Cannot contain two consecutive periods (.).
  • Cannot contain periods (.) and hyphens (-) adjacent to each other. For example, my-.bucket and my.-bucket are invalid.
